A little note

A little note

This project is under an NDA and i can't disclose too much about it. i've linked the product detail page that offers greater insights about the products. If you want to know more about it, please feel free to reach out. I'd love to have a chat about this!!!!! :)

Overview

Overview

The then existing system for lawyers in India to keep track of their court cases, proceedings and client communications was rather rudimentary and completely manual. There were rarely one or two applications that functioned well and offered an usable experience, not a great user experience. Looking at the current state a client approached us, asking if we could build solutions in this space and digitalise the workings of lawyers, especially medium to low scale private practitioners.

We heartily agreed, this was a challenging problem and rather interesting as well. The problem was not just helping build an app to let lawyers see their appointments or organise their files. It was about building an experience that had to compete with habits that had been developing for decades. It was about building for an inclusive audience, farmers who had very little education and helping lawyers and their associates communicate seamlessly. It was not just designing an app, it was designing a new way of looking at things.

My Role

My Role

I was the Lead User Researcher for the project. While i did work on the UI design and the design system, there was a different lead for it.

Stuff i did.

  • Literature Reviews

  • Competitor Analysis

  • Market Research

  • Field Research

  • Interviews (Lawyers and Clients)

  • Information Synthesis

  • Information Architecture

  • Documentation

  • Prototyping

  • Led most of the stakeholder meetings

I basically crafted most of the core experience of the applications.

Problem

Problem

How might we design solutions to digitalise court proceedings while making it inclusive, seamless and easy to adapt to.

Solution

Solution

At the end of almost three months,10s of interviews and hours on the miro boards, brainstorming, defining and redefining thoughts and ideas, we came up with some work we're really proud of. Last i heard from the clients they were focussed on the development of the app, so i'll just shortly synthesize the major components of the solution.

Lawyer and Client Apps

  • Lawyer has their own app. Clients have their own app.

  • Lawyer decides which cases to share to whom and offers a link using which clients can add cases to their apps.

Marketing

Communication

I led the initial marketing for the product, conducting numerous market research and user research sessions, based on which i designed successful strategies

  • We've separated general communication from updates. If a lawyer wants a document from the client or needs to share some ideas or notes to them separate channels exist for that.

  • A shared calendar exists with hearing dates and all important meetings.

Handling Associates

  • Lawyers also a clearly defined permissions system to allow associates to see, handle and edit files, they also have

  • A unique link system works to help this as well.

  • Lawyers also havea clearly defined permissions system to allow associates to see, handle.

  • A unique link system works to help this as well.

Copywriting

Inclusivity

I also wrote all of the content used in the marketing materials and the product pages, using a mixed methods with insights from the research sessions.

  • A guided action experience, a client only does the bare minimum, as guided or requested by the lawyer. Clearly defined affordances, icons to overcome educational barrier.

  • Greatly reduced the need to visit lawyers while staying in loop.

Conclusion

Conclusion

While the above features define the core of the application, there are numerous other greatly considerable features that make the experience of using this service easy and inclusive. We can't wait for this to go live as we believe this will bring in change and better lives. !!! : )
